Behind the Scenes
Ashli Campbell started the Velveteen in the fall of 2021 after having great success with her cafe across the street Bunny and Clyde’s, a locals’ favorite. She wanted to create another special space in Salida. Same community vibe and feel as “Bunny’s”, but an evening space, available for quiet cocktails, small get-togethers, but also crazy-fun dance parties!
She partnered with Shelly Kelley, who works with her at Bunny’s and has gobs of catering experience, to pull together this new space.
The historic Sherman Hotel is the perfect setting for this completely mod yet ultra retro hang space. IYKYK.
